This school caters exclusively for students who are unable to attend mainstream educational settings as a consequence of longstanding and substantial behavioral issues.
This amazing place is run by wonderful staff and feels more like a youth hostel than a school. The rules are simple and there are only three:
The Highlands School wanted a playground that they could “DIY.”
So we turned our Paper & Crayon Design Workshop into a day out, including a special guest appearance from Costa Georgiadis, to help us to get our hands in the dirt!
With the site for the new playground decided, we married the ideas generated by two separate student workshops, into a playground design that would improve the daily experience of every student, and best of all, they could build it themselves with the help of their practical and talented teachers!
The plans are complete and we can’t wait to see the end result!
Well the playground has been built and opened at The Highlands School. It may deviate a little from the plan, however in terms of the objective to provide a physically challenging activity, I think the DIY team at THS have hit the mark!
