This project turned a difficult sloping and eroding site into a series of productive terraced gardens that create an interactive, Sustainable Learning Area.

The terraces were carefully designed and positioned to reduce erosion and capture water onsite. With a a staggered pattern that seems to cascade down the slope, the terraces also form individual garden beds for different uses- from a beneficial insect garden, perennial herb garden, bush tucker garden, Citrus grove and wicking beds.

Sustainability was at the core of this project.

The extensive productive gardens are surrounded by STEM teaching aids that allow for a multitude of sustainable learning activities outdoors. This includes a hand crafted Native bee hive, Chicken run and Coop, Composting worm farms and Rainwater harvesting tanks. Urban habitat was created through the inclusion of nest boxes for Possums and for birds, a sculptural bug motel, a Microbat nest box,  a bird bath, varied native planting and a beneficial insect garden.

An Outdoor Learning Area sits at the centre of the space, utilising an existing shed. Productive climbers will provide shade above the paved seating area where Children can learn about Nature while experiencing Nature.
