The Hills School is for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
ULP was approached to help design and project manage the development of a “Farm” for the school. The project started to take shape with the construction of access paths, COLA and a slab for the kitchen and learning area.
We called in Costa Georgiadis to help with the design and planning of a no-dig veggie garden and orchard, and to assist with all horticultural aspects of the design.
Finally, the big day came for the construction of the gardens and orchard. The school supplied student helpers and willing volunteers. ULP provided qualified trades assistance and site management, some Social Justice students from Waverley College for extra muscle, and Costa gave his time to make it all come together on a fruitful, fun and entertaining day.
Now the students of the Hills School can enjoy learning, while growing and cooking their own food.
