Sandstone terracing

A sloping section of the school grounds was reworked as a sequence of sandstone terraces, giving the school level ground for outdoor teaching and informal seating along the edges.
Sandstone was chosen because it takes daily climbing without maintenance and reads as part of the landscape rather than as equipment. Boulders were set to double as seating, so a class can gather at the top of the terrace without additional furniture.
Designed and constructed by one ULP team.
