The Sustainable Learning Area: raised productive beds and herb gardens leading to the trellised teaching deck

A core outdoor learning environment designed to bring sustainability education and flexible teaching into the everyday school landscape. The Sustainable Learning Area provides a highly practical, landscape-led space for outdoor classes, student gathering, and hands-on environmental engagement.

Designed to support whole-class instruction as well as informal breakout learning, the space integrates core sustainability features, including productive garden beds, habitat planting, and composting systems, within a comfortable and collaborative setting. The result is an accessible educational landscape that fosters environmental awareness, creativity, and a strong connection to nature through direct, everyday engagement with living systems.
