SPROUTS for Schools

Sprouts, let your play space grow

SPROUTS for Schools

Small spaces. Big opportunities.

SPROUTS makes it easy for schools to improve their outdoor environments with pre-designed, pre-costed play and landscape solutions that are ready to go.

Created by ULP specifically for smaller school projects, each SPROUTS environment brings together play, movement, landscape and learning opportunities in one resolved package. There is no need to start with a blank page or undertake a lengthy design process.

We’ve done the thinking. You choose what fits.

More than playground equipment

SPROUTS is designed around what the environment gives students, not simply what equipment can fit into a space.

The range includes compact environments and activity clusters that can introduce new opportunities for:

  • climbing and physical challenge
  • balance and movement
  • imaginative and social play
  • nature and discovery
  • sensory experiences
  • gathering and connection
  • outdoor learning

Each SPROUTS solution is designed as a complete experience, bringing equipment and landscape together rather than treating them as separate purchases.

Pre-designed. Pre-costed. Ready to deliver.

One of the biggest advantages of SPROUTS is simplicity.

The design has already been resolved, the inclusions are defined and the solution is costed around standard site and installation assumptions.

Once we understand your school and the area you want to improve, ULP can help identify the SPROUTS solutions that best match the site and what you want students to experience.

That means less time designing from scratch and a clearer pathway towards delivery.

Choose one or grow over time

You don’t need to transform the entire playground at once.

A single SPROUTS environment can solve an immediate need or become the first step in a longer-term improvement of the school grounds.

Additional environments can be introduced over time as priorities and funding allow. This staged approach is specifically built into the SPROUTS model.

It gives schools the opportunity to start somewhere meaningful now while continuing to improve the campus over time.

A straightforward pathway to delivery

SPROUTS is designed to remove unnecessary complexity from smaller school projects.

Once your project has been qualified, we discuss what the school is trying to achieve, check the site and recommend the most appropriate solution. From there, the scope can be confirmed and quoted before moving into delivery.

  1. Discovery
  2. Site check
  3. SPROUTS recommendation
  4. Quotation
  5. Approval
  6. Installation

For NSW public schools, the appropriate approval and procurement pathway should always be confirmed with your ASO. Department requirements can change, and your ASO can advise the school on the current requirements applying to your particular project.

Designed by people who understand schools

A smaller project still deserves good design.

SPROUTS draws on ULP’s experience designing and building outdoor environments for schools. The environments have been developed with the same thinking we apply to larger projects, including play value, landscape, movement, durability, construction and how spaces work within an operating school.

The difference is that much of that thinking has already happened before you come to us. That is what allows SPROUTS to offer a simpler pathway without reducing the project to a catalogue of individual equipment.

Is SPROUTS right for your school?

SPROUTS is designed for schools with a clearly defined need or a smaller, targeted outdoor improvement.

It may be the right fit if you want to:

  • improve an underused part of the playground
  • introduce a new play experience
  • replace or upgrade a tired area
  • add an outdoor learning or landscape feature
  • make a meaningful improvement without redesigning the whole playground
  • begin a larger improvement programme one stage at a time

If your school needs a more substantial outdoor environment, Playform for Schools provides a broader range of proven, pre-designed and pre-costed environments configured for the school site.

For larger projects requiring greater project-specific design development, Playform+ for Schools provides the next level of the Playform system.
